I was briefed to design an energy story for the hashtag #couplesgoals which was very popular with our men’s and women’s consumer at the time. This was a fun collaborative project between the Color Designer for Women’s Training and I, along with our Material designers. I took this as an opportunity to break away from traditional gender colors and come at this with a more gender neutral angle, especially since we were using the same footwear model for both genders. We were drawn to energizing color clashes that would be flipped for the companion shoe. This would create a Yin and Yang feel, which felt conducive to the idea of couples working together. We landed on Purple and Yellow grounded by Black, White and Chrome. It was exciting to see our star Crossfit athletes Lauren Fisher and Rasmus Andersen wear them in the Nike Power Couple campaign.
